You Have No Idea, by Vanessa and Helen Williams, is about a mother-daughter relationship and of growing up together. I've always loved Vanessa Williams and imagine her as her character in the show "Ugly Betty." I was wrong and right at the same time because she is very headstrong, like her character. The part that I never guessed was her history and what she overcame on the journey to becoming what she is today.
I loved getting both sides of each story-- the mother and the daughter's. It made the book real, something that every mom could relate to. Vanessa surrendered a lot of personal information about her life in the book, of which the reader could appreciate. I learned how rebellious she was and saw how much she learned from her experiences. She may have gone through a lot, but she fought on and made it for the better. It's an uplifting story with a wonderful ending.
The book was written in a very entertaining and comical manner. It's an honest, quick read and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the book myself. Helen's commentary added a lot to the book. I would even go as far as saying it completes it.
