Book Review: The Underside of Joy

First off, whoa mama... The Underside of Joy was a very emotional book, beginning to end. I would even go so far as to say this is my favorite book reviewed to this date. You truly relate to the main character, Ella. You can't help but love her within the first couple of pages. I found myself talking out loud and gasping throughout the story, which is a sign of how much the book had captivated me.

The book was easy to read and the author made it easy for you to follow along. The story itself is something very plausible, making it easier for the reader to get sucked into. The author, Sere Prince Halverson, managed to include tragedy, love, and family values. I imagine that The Underside of Joy tugs at the heart of every mom, emphasizing on the mother-daughter relationship.

Overall, I'd highly recommend this book to everyone. It's a page turner and I'm sure you won't be able to put it down once you start reading.

January Thus Far

Pretty sure my blog is going to be turning into a phone picture blog since I have NO time to take outfit photos with my chaotic schedule. Oh well, at least it'll be a way for me to remember what I did!

I started the year off with a fresh stack of flapjacks, recipe here:

Then had a day date with the DB in the city since we both had a day off:

The perfect sized meal, even though I could only finish half a sandwich. I got something citrus-y with lime and orange chicken. LOVE.

The DB got a chicken pesto.

Then we headed on over to Blue Bottle for some coffee. Talk about a hidden restaurant!

A package in the mail from Kate Spade:

All items from the new year sale! I'm waiting for a discount so that I can buy this bag:

Spent a glorious day in the city I love the most, Seatte:

Ate some ice cream

Found my favorite soy vanilla latte.

Ate mini doughnuts for breakfast:

Ichatted a lot with the DB, while he played Zelda:

Came home and had dinner at the Asian Ghetto:

FINALLY. I stock up on these at 7-11 in my cappuccino, but it's about time someone made it available in the market!

Until next week!
