Ouch.
Sea Change by Jeremy Page hits you right where it hurts. We follow a character that has been struck by tragedy, losing his daughter at a very early age. We watch him suffer through depression and denial, reminiscing on the memories that were once so real. It is definitely not a light hearted read since grief is a recurring theme throughout the book. Everyone deals with problems in their own way. For the main character, Guy, it was writing a false journal where his daughter and wife were still with him. To me, that a bit creepy, but if it helps someone get over the past then I'm all for it.
The story teaches you not to take anything for granted. No matter how bad reality may seem, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. It may seem bad now, but the situation could always be worse.
The only thing I didn't like about the book was the ending. It left the story completely up in the air for the reader to fill in the blank. I wish I knew what happened to Guy and how his life ended. All in all, this isn't a book for everyone to read. You have to truly appreciate the background, writing, and scenery of the story. It's a slow paced novel with not a lot of action.
